A festival named after a crocus

ANTAHŞUM, one of the roughly 18 Hittite festivals, took its name from a crocus and celebrated the renewal of plant life. That a plant’s name became the name of a festival shows how important the plant was to that society. Note: autumn crocus is a very poisonous plant.
