Hollyhock in the years without soap

Marshmallow

In Muş, hollyhock (Alcea, locally hîro) lathers, so in years of poverty it was used instead of soap to wash the dead. For snakebite, its stem, flower and leaf are pounded, mixed with ayran (a yogurt drink) and applied for seven days. The slippery mucilage in hollyhock roots is also the source of its lather.
