Does healing run in the blood? Ocaks

In Anatolia, an “ocak” (hearth) is a tradition in which healing power is believed to pass from generation to generation within a family. Medical historians who studied the Otu Kesme Ocağı in Akçapınar also consulted specialist physicians in the relevant fields about the soil, plants and diseases involved. Taking folk medicine seriously means both recording it and questioning it.
