Fadime Ana, Meryem Ana, Havva Ana

One plant, different names: in Ankara, Sivas and Tokat, Anastatica hierochuntica (rose of Jericho) is called Fadime Ana, Meryem Ana or Havva Ana (Mother Fatima, Mother Mary, Mother Eve). As it opens in water, the “doors of wishes” are believed to open too. In a study in Karaman, 77.9 percent of women said they had used this plant to ease childbirth.
