Mountain flower and a mother’s milk

In Dede Korkut, Boğaç Han is badly wounded by his father’s arrow. He tells his mother not to weep: Hızır on his grey horse came, stroked his wound three times and said, “you will not die of this wound; mountain flower and your mother’s milk are your salve”. Scholars cite this as an example of the place of mountain flowers in Turkish folk medicine. Other plants in the book include poplar, cypress, autumn apple, almond, onion, garlic, millet and barley.
