Remedies sold on the street

In Ottoman İstanbul, some remedies were sold on the street. From street vendors, people bought thyme water for coughs and phlegm, mint water for nausea, and bitter orange blossom water as a calming drink that brings sleep. All were made by steam distillation of flowering branches; bitter orange blossom water was made from fresh flowers.
