The goat-footed lord of the forest

Deep in the forest of the Peruvian Amazon lives the Chullachaqui: he looks like a person, except that one foot is the foot of a goat, a deer or a dog. He is the lord of the animals, the “king of the forest”. Whoever befriends him hunts well; more often, those who meet him go mad or fall ill. Healers in Iquitos say he lives at the foot of the chullachaqui caspi tree, whose roots rise from the soil like a “foot”; this tree is also a teacher plant.
