Three remedies of Yunt Dağı

Oriental sweetgum

In the villages of Yunt Dağı in Manisa, researchers interviewed 55 people; most people in the area are of Yörük origin. The plant mentioned most was mint: two-thirds of those interviewed named mint tea for stomach ache. Second was St John’s wort, rubbed on wounds with olive oil. In one village, children who wet the bed at night are given oriental sweetgum resin to chew.
