What evil-eye rue shares with ayahuasca

The seeds of Syrian rue, burned against the evil eye in Anatolia, contain harmine and harmaline. The same alkaloid family gives its effect to the vine that is the main ingredient of the ayahuasca drink in the Amazon. The ethnobotanist Richard Evans Schultes pointed out this link in 1969, but added that records of Syrian rue being used to have visions are doubtful.
