Ingredients

  • 1 heaped teaspoon (about 7 g) of Turkish coffee
  • 1 coffee cup of cold water
  • 1–2 cardamom pods
  • Optional: sugar

Method

  1. Lightly crush the cardamom pods with the flat of a knife.
  2. Mix the coffee, water, cardamom and sugar if using in a cezve.
  3. Cook over low heat without stirring until it foams up.
  4. Spoon the foam into the cup, bring the rest up once more and pour.

Crushing the cardamom just before brewing, rather than using it pre-ground, keeps much more of its scent.
