Ingredients

  • 1–2 teaspoons (1–2 g) dried lavender flowers
  • 1 cup (150 ml) boiling water
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon of honey

Method

  1. Put the flowers in a teapot or a mug with a strainer.
  2. Pour boiling water over them and cover, so the essential oils do not escape with the steam.
  3. Steep for 5–10 minutes and strain. Drink half an hour before bed.

The European Medicines Agency recognises lavender flower for traditional use in mild stress and to help falling asleep. If the taste is too sharp, mix half and half with lemon balm or linden. Lavender essential oil is not for drinking; use only dried flowers for tea.
